Do Not Worship Idols
The Holy Scripture warns every one in the universe to turn away from idol worship. God of the Bible never receives worship through any mediums or idols. He speaks and receives worship or supplication directly from His creation.
The Only One Way
John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
The Name Above All Other Names
He is above all other names in the universe which is named or yet to be named. Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord.
Isaiah 45:23
I have sworn by Myself;
The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness,
And shall not return,
That to Me every knee shall bow,
Every tongue shall take an oath.
Philippians 2:9 -11
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Be a chosen one and get the communication established through worship. Learn the statutes and judgement of God so that real worship will come from within us. He is Holy, jealous for His people from spiritual contamination. His glory, He will never give it to any man or beast or any idols.
Deuteronomy 4:15-19
“Take careful heed to yourselves, for you saw no form when the Lord spoke to you at Horeb out of the midst of the fire, lest you act corruptly and make for yourselves a carved image in the form of any figure: the likeness of male or female, the likeness of any animal that is on the earth or the likeness of any winged bird that flies in the air, the likeness of anything that creeps on the ground or the likeness of any fish that is in the water beneath the earth. And take heed, lest you lift your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun, the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, you feel driven to worship them and serve them, which the Lord your God has given to all the peoples under the whole heaven as a heritage.
The Unseen God
We learn the following from the above passage.
No one has seen God, thus you cannot presume the image of God in any other forms such as;
1. Graven image
2. Similitude of any figure
3. Likeness of male or female
4. Likeness of any beast that is on the earth
5. Likeness of any winged fowl
6. Likeness of any creeping creature
7. Likeness of any fish or similar
8. Sun, moon, stars and host of heaven that is the fallen angels who take the form of God and people worship.
Idolatry is the failure of recognising the creator of humanity, the perversion of an inherent principle and protrusion of self satisfaction through the worship instinct which is part of human life. As a result they install an inferior God on the altar of worship everywhere in their heart.
Curse of Idol worship
1. Idol worship is a cursed activity - Deut 7:26
2. Idol worship is an abomination to God - Deut 27:15
3. Idol worship is a forbidden activity - Exo 20:4, Rom 1:22-23
4. Idol worship invokes curses until the fourth generation - Due 5:9
5. It steals the glory which is due unto God - Isa 42:8
6. It is a snare to the one who worships. It entices or allures the soul of a person in worship.
It is a bait from Satan to hold back the glory due to God - Exo 23:32-33, Deut 7:25
7. Idol worship pollutes the land - Jere16:18
8. It adds Woe to the idol worshiper - Hab 2:18-19
9. It multiplies sorrows to the worshiper - Psa 16:4
The Bible teach us that 1 John 5:21
Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen !
It gives a self satisfaction in your soul while the spirit is starving. Your mind, will and emotion is veiled and it is a one way worship. Worship should be both ways - man to God and God to man.
Forbidden to utter the idols names
Exodus 23:13
“Pay attention to all that I have said to you, and make no mention of the names of other gods, nor let it be heard on your lips.
Conclusion
Any form of idol worship within or without can harm you in anyways. It steals the relationship and love which is due personal to God. Search yourself and find anything which is detestable to God. Forsake and worship Him in Truth and Spirit. Never give the glory of God to any of the personal choices of worship images which falls upon you due to inheritance. Never entertain anything which becomes an idol in your heart. It can be name, fame, money, spouse, children, position, power, business, beauty or addictions.
Let us pray a short prayer
In the name of Jesus, I come to the throne room God, with confidence that You are my God and my Saviour. Lord, I empty myself, of any other idols other than You alone. Thank You Father, for the wisdom You gave to choose You, when others, are on the broad way of life. I adore You as the Creator and the Redeemer of my life. Thank You Jesus for saving me.
